Grandma's House

Our assignment was to create a sustainable tiny home for our grandmother in an assigned climate region. I was assigned Climate Zone 11, which is in Phoenix, Arizona. I used materials like adobe and rammed earth for their thermal mass. Other techniques I used were a solar chimney, adding a courtyard, and placing windows to create a wind path for passive cooling. I used Phoenix’s sun angles to calculate the length of overhangs and to angle the solar panels.
